Autism, Picky Eating, Diabetes Scare, Visitng CHOC E.R. & Following my Mama Instinct all in a Weekend...

We had to take our son to CHOC last Saturday.

Let me back up to the week leading up.

Last Thursday through Sunday we were in Idyllwild for family time and Silverlakes Norco for soccer.

Everything all weekend went well, we had a lot of fun exploring the winter snow a bit, winning a championship at the soccer field and getting ready for the week.

I noticed Mikey was saying he was a bit more tired than usual, he seemed to want to rest a bit more than hike or play and that's not like him at all when were outdoors.

I made note cause I know my boy very well. Since he does have his quirks and sensory things here and there he's pretty easy to read and his communication is getting a lot better with verbalizing what's going on.

After we returned I noticed on Monday and Tuesday he was still saying he was itchy here and there but with no signs of why he would be visible to the eye on the skin. He also by Tuesday started to drink a lot of water and by a lot I mean like double what he was normally drinking.

Wednesday morning rolled around and he had an accident during the night. Wednesday he seemed to urinate more and drink a lot. Still saying he was itchy.

Wednesday after school he said his ear was bothering him. I called the doctor, meanwhile no raised pulse or fever. They could not see him until Friday late, so I pulled him from school early and went to urgent care. The Dr. said that his left ear was infected and could have been causing him to be off and feeling this way. She prescribed antibiotics and sent us on our way.

Mikey started to tell me his hands and feet were tingly and sleepy. That raised flags for me. He also said his eyes were watery and when I asked him if his vision was blurry or fuzzy he said yes. Sometimes it's hard to tell what he may be wanting to express with the communicating. I have to draw out info and ask for details often with my little love.

Of course its Friday night and our pediatrician is now closed and when I google, I know but the symptoms were worrying me, it came up... signs of diabetes.

Because we do have diabetes in our family history and because my son is such a picky eater that I can tell you all 15 to 20 things he eats, yes we've done feeding therapy in the past and are re visiting that, I was worried.

I called CHOC and decided I would take him into the ER in the morning. That way it would be fasting and they would be able to run some tests as needed fasting and then perhaps after a snack. Again all was fine and no other complaints or elevated symptoms and at this time none of the above was going on at the moment or all night.

Thanks to El Gallo Giro for sponsoring the delish fixings for our tamalada. All opinions are my own.

My Easy steps and tips..

Silva's Fresh Eatery & Churrascaria Foodie Review

Calling All Brazilian Eats Lovers & Those That Have Not Tried But Should!

Silva’s Fresh Eatery + Churrascaria is delish and offers a variety of dishes with their buffet offerings.

Known to be an OC favorite for Brazilian and international fare, they have announced multiple updates including the addition of new meats to their diverse Chef’s Table.

We just dined in last week and had a lunch date with all the fixings! The ambiance and décor are welcoming and bright.

I've never had a Brazilian dining experience and this is with a twist. While there's fresh food and a lot of it, you serve yourself the majority of it buffet style.

While you can order appetizers like the Yucca fries and other off menu items the main meats & treats to explore are in the buffet.

The buffet has everything from salads, hummus and veggies to main home-style dishes that bring Brazil to Orange County.

Full of flavors, seasonings and the taste is as if there was someone's grandma in the back making it all.

There's also a full bar for date night experience... just saying.

Know Before You Go..

The restaurant is now open Tuesday through Sunday and offers a $26.95 all you can eat dinner with an expanded menu of proteins for their guests.

Silva’s Fresh Eatery + Churrascaria, which is located in the popular South Coast Metro area has added new meat offerings to their Chef’s Table which includes an eclectic selection of modern Brazilian fare and international favorites.

Guests can now enjoy Pork Ribs (marinated in lime juice & spices) and delicious Leg of Lamb (boneless) served alongside their already popular offerings of Picanha, Tri-Tip, Garlic Picanha and Skirt Steak.

An all you can eat lunch for $22.95 is available Tuesday through Friday and dinner for only $26.95 Tuesday through Sunday.

Silva’s has also unveiled their all-new $15.95 Power Lunch which is now available Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30am - 2pm. Hungry guests can enjoy a single pass through the Chef’s Table (4 oz of meat) and fill their plate with a wide variety of salads, local seasonal veggies, whole grains, internationally inspired sides and proteins that will please any discerning palate.

Silva’s also has happy hour offerings, which are available Tuesday through Thursday from 4-7pm. Guests can order half priced Brazilian pizzas, which include their Chicken Catupiry, Margherita, Four Cheese Bianco and their best selling Calabresa.

During happy hour guests can pull a seat up at their full bar and order $4 well drinks, $5 beers, $6 wine glasses and $7 specialty craft cocktails.

You can get all the deets here... https://www.silvasfresheatery.com/

Both my husband and I agreed that the Garlic meats were our favorite!

Do you have a craving yet or an idea of what you'd like to try?

One thing we forgot, probably since we were so full, desserts. They have a Brazilian Flan I really wanted to try... looks like I'll have to return!

Feeling Safe in the Mountains with our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Test Drive #Jeep #TestDrive #OCJeep

First time Jeep Driver here! Test Drive Success.....

I love cars, trucks, suv's... but I had never driven a Jeep before and I fell head over heels or well snow boots for her!

Mountain Ready and Safety Confident

About 2 weeks ago we were set to hit the road and spend a few days momcationing in beautiful Idyllwild.

Basically packed and ready to go just days before our trip the road conditions, from the socal weather we've been having, gave in and left us with one route up and back.

This route is not only the longest but ita the most mountain driving of the 3 routes in. On top of that we were advised we may need chains and there may be snow in the roads where the plows have not gotten to.

Let's Do This...

Thanks to Orange Coast Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Orange County we were set up with two snow ready Jeep Rubicon beasts to take on the mountain saelfy and comfortably. All opinions are my own.

I have to say my favorite were the olives... I'm an olive lover.

Do you know the GROW story? It's super cute...

"“Why did you open GROW?” It’s a question we’ve gotten since the day we opened our doors. And the answer is still the same- It started with a Cherry Stand.

We Love Family Style Meal at Panini Kabob Grill Mision Viejo #PaniniKabobGrill

Winner Winner Panini Kabob Dinner....

Family Style is the way to go at Panini Kabob Grill for Dinner.

It has been kind of rainy and cold in socal the last few weeks. My kids are always on the go doing something and I am always looking for fresh options to feed them if I didn't get the meals in and ready on time.

One of our most favorite go-to options for a delish meal is Panini Kabob Grill. The whole family loves it and my daughter even makes requests weekly for something she is craving from the made to order fresh kitchen!

I am totally fine eating there and enjoying a new favorite for dinner.... the Family Style Meal!

A few of the reasons we love Panini Kabob Grill as a family....

The Team on site is amazing and friendly and loves their job so it makes us smile.

PKG is so proud to say that their Chicken, Beef and Lamb Kabobs are now 100% Vegetarian Fed, Antibiotic and Hormone Free. Thank you PKG!

Locca Churros + Tea Opens Inside Union Market Mission Viejo at Kaleidoscope & We LOVE it all...

I am Loca for Locca!

Okay so did I just call my self carzy? I did....

I am totally crazy or loca over Locca Churros and Tea! Have you heard about this new little secret spot?

Well it's not that secret it's just new and a must try!

I was able to give Locca a try after a mom meet up last week. All opinions are my own and I am super grateful to Locca for inviting us to try their goodness out.

I really enjoyed how fresh and full of flavor the Locca teas and milk teas are. I also appreciate that they didn't look at me like I was totally loca (I can drop that pun all day) that I asked for No Boba... I know right.. just have to be in the mood.

It makes me smile when an owner takes such pride in the magic behind the scenes to bring us what we taste. Aside from the fresh churros that make your mouth just water, the toppings are nothing short of customizable and delish.

Pile on the different creative ingredients on top of fresh churned ice cream made in socal to bring the most creamy bite to each spoonful.

I found myself saying wow... the kids are going to love these churros too... better than (dare I say it...) Disney churros. Whelp there, I said it. It's true... fresh, warm, packed with sugar and cinnamon and there is something about the batter used.... its addictive. I couldn't stop..

Here are more deets on the new location and all that is offered. I can't wait to get the kids back so they can create and taste too.

Hot off the press....

Favorite Reasons to Stay at Idyllcreek A Frame Cabin in Idyllwild with Experience Idyllwild - #Idyllwild

We love Idyllwild and Staying with Experience Idyllwild

This visit to Idyllwild was nothing short of spectacular staying at the cozy unique Idyllcreek A-Frame cabin.

https://pin.it/bu3akhmeebabrz

Experience Idyllwild makes it so easy and fun to drift away into the fresh clean are of mountain life yet still feel at home with everything you need. It's glamping at its finest!

Thanks to Experience Idyllwild for the cabin adventure. All opinions are my own.

Winter is here in SoCal and with just a short 2 hour drive you are in Idyllwild. The route I like to take brings us a nice 22 minute drive up the mountain with scenic views.

This is the first time I went to the mountains with 3 kiddos while my hubs stayed behind to work. Sad for him. Fun time as usual for us. Thanks to Chevy I had a Tahoe to pack up all our gear and feel super safe on the mountain drive. (check out my Chevy Tahoe Review here)

Knowing I dont have to bring anything but what we need and groceries is a relief!

Full kitchen for me to cook at my leisure and I love that!

There is plenty of space for us all, a cozy fireplace and a Jacuzzi on the porch.

The kids loved the hot tub before a shower & dinner for almost two hours!

Pre-teen Co-Ed Success - Outing Ideas at Kaleidoscope Mission Viejo

Tween Night Out... When Where What... Ideas for Success!

I don't know about you but the thought of wanting to plan a tween night out can be scary.

These tweens today are so much more advanced and have so much pressure, I always want to keep the outings age appropriate yet fun. Kaleidoscope was a hit...

With tweens it's also important to me to support coed friendships.

When the kids are friends just hanging out building friendships and strong trust worthy relationships with both guys and girls I feel that it keeps them supported with a go to group.

A few weekends ago we decided to try a coed tween night out.

Starting at Laser Quest the group had an awesome time playing 2 rounds plus some arcade games. The timing of each round is perfect for a quick game play prior to dinner or an additional game while waiting for dinner.

Since we had at least one adult within the mix, in our case two, it was easy to keep a distance yet keep an eye on the tweens.

Laser Quest is perfect for small group or larger groups too and they even have an escape room you can play.

Perfect for November...  Laser Quest at Kaleidoscope has teamed up with Summit Entertainment on a couple of exciting Robin Hood promotions (opening in theaters November 21.)

Our Top 5 Favorite Go To Restaurants in OC!

Restaurant Hot List OnTheGoOC Style...

There are so many great sit down Restaurants and hang out spots in OC but these are currently my top 5 for a variety of reasons.

From how well they accommodate our OnTheGoOC lifestyle when we're out, date night friendly and also how their menu holds up to our ever changing need for different tastes as a family!

Let's jump right in... You may want to visit one of these tonight...

The FIFTH OC Rooftop is rolling in for us at number 1!

We just enjoy it and have in so many different ways over the last few years.

So, since it's family friendly, has live music most nights, is date night perfect, offers views of the Disney fireworks, brings a tasty menu & delish desserts and of course weekly specials that can keep any budget friendly for family time or date... it's our style!

I have brought a whole club soccer team up to The FIFTH, some with allergies but, everyone was able to eat and enjoy the evening.

Dietary can be accommodated and autism friendly is key, there are often large games out to play and the views of the Disneyland Resort are top notch while keeping little occupied until the Fireworks.
