Beyond Blindness Sensory Easter Egg Hunt Returns to Newport Dunes April 12

Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, in collaboration with Beyond Blindness and the OC Sheriff's Department, is excited to announce the return of the Beyond Blindness Beeper Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

This cherished event exemplifies the mission of Beyond Blindness, an Orange County-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering children with visual impairments and other disabilities to reach their fullest potential. The Beeper Egg Hunt provides an inclusive and sensory-friendly Easter celebration for children of all abilities.

“The Beyond Blindness Beeper Egg Hunt is a wonderful tradition that brings joy to so many families,” said Phil Ravenna, General Manager of Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort. “We are honored to continue partnering with Beyond Blindness and the OC Sheriff’s Department to create an unforgettable experience for these children and their families.”

This year, 175 children, ranging from infancy to age 12, will take part in the event. Seventy-five specially designed beeping eggs, donated by the OC Sheriff’s Department, will be placed in a safe grassy area to help children with visual impairments locate them through sound. Additionally, a traditional egg hunt will feature 2,700 colorful, plastic eggs, including a selection of tactile eggs filled with textured materials to enhance the sensory experience for visually impaired children.

In addition to the egg hunt, the OC Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad and their dogs will be on-site to engage with the children, providing them with a valuable sensory experience. Community and corporate volunteers will assist the children during the event, ensuring that every participant enjoys a fun and safe celebration. Following the hunt, a beachfront picnic lunch will be provided for families, staff, and volunteers, with a special appearance by the Easter Bunny for photos and festivities.

Beyond Blindness is thrilled to welcome new event supporters this year, including Integrated Project Management, which is generously donating the goodie bags for all participants. The organization is also grateful for the continued generosity of New World Medical, who is once again donating the eggs. This year, the event will be further enriched by the participation of new volunteers from the Delta Gamma Chapman chapter and the Marina High School Medical Career Group.

Get ready to Really Go There as Universal Studios Hollywood takes fandom to a whole new level with its imaginative all-new, after-hours, separately ticketed event, Universal Fan Fest Nights, designed to transport fans and guests into immersive in-world experiences. Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural event which takes place on the following dates: April 25-27; May 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18, 2025.

Launching exclusively at Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Fan Fest Nights comes to life from the minds of Halloween Horror Nights’ innovative creators and debuts with the same level of intensity and detail as this popular seasonal event. Universal Fan Fest Nights will feature all-new, uniquely curated experiences inspired by sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and anime. Guests can tap into their inner fandom to join forces with their favorite characters while sharing their enthusiasm with like-minded fans as they engage in cosplay with such renowned favorites as Star Trek, Back to the Future, DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen. Additionally, theme park favorites, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ will offer special additions and introduce character and interactive elements during Universal Fan Fest Nights.

Guests can look forward to experiencing each of these unique experiences throughout the theme park every night of the event.

An energetic block party will invite fans across every genre to share their passions and enthusiasm in fandom celebration, and an array of interactive activations will take place throughout the theme park, including live entertainment, cosplay and photo opportunities.

Here’s what guests and fans can expect at Universal Fan Fest Nights 2025:

• opportunity to meet the Niffler, a Baby Dragon and grand Occamy. The centerpiece of the experience will feature the visually spectacular Hogwarts™ Always light projection show designed to take guests on a whimsical journey through a school year at Hogwarts. Weaving together unforgettable music and incredible moments of wizardry, Hogwarts Always will shine bright as it comes to life set against the majestic backdrop of Hogwarts™ castle.

 

• SUPER NINTENDO WORLD: Let’s Go, Yoshi—This exciting addition to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD will mark the debut of beloved fan favorite Yoshi as a brand new meet and greet character within the land during Universal Fan Fest Nights. As part of Yoshi’s welcome to the land, guests will have a chance to interact with Yoshi as they engage in a scavenger hunt to locate all five colorful Yoshi eggs.  After completing this original quest, guests will reap the benefit of a very special reward with the unique opportunity to meet a different colored Yoshi. Plus, guests will be treated to celebratory drone moments that will illuminate the night sky throughout the evening.

 

Additionally, fans can look forward to an enticing menu of themed foods that Universal Studios Hollywood Executive Chef Julia Thrash will elevate to meteoric levels. New merchandise, including collectibles, apparel, drinkware, accessories and more, will debut in tandem with the grand opening of Universal Fan Fest Nights, inviting guests and fans to display their fandom during the event and beyond.

Universal Studios Hollywood expresses its sincere gratitude to the first responders for their heroic efforts in tackling the devastating Los Angeles wildfires with the “First Responder Heroes Ticket.”

All eligible active first responders can enjoy one complimentary 1-Day General Admission ticket and a 50% discount on up to three 1-Day General Admission tickets, now through April 10, 2025.

The “First Responder Heroes Ticket” offer extends to all eligible U.S.-based, active first responders within public or private agency/entities who assist the community in the following categories: Firefighters, Police Officers, Sheriff’s Deputies, National Guard, and Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians. Offer excludes retired and volunteer first responders.

The “First Responder Heroes Ticket” may only be redeemed once per eligible first responder and must be redeemed in person at the theme park’s dedicated “First Responder Heroes Ticket” ticket booth located at the Front Gate entrance. The ticket can only be redeemed for the same day visit. Online redemption will not be available. 

Eligible first responders will need to show a valid government-issued photo ID and valid employee ID card for qualifying first responder occupation.

In addition to the complimentary ticket, first responders have the option to purchase up to three additional 1-Day General Admission tickets for guests within their party at a savings of 50% off the front gate price on the day of visit. All accompanying guests must be present at the time of visit to receive the discounted rate.

Guests Will Enjoy a Brand-New Show and a Limited-Time Charles Schulz Exhibit on Weekends February 8 through March 9

Knott’s PEANUTS™ Celebration has one more reason to celebrate this year! The beloved PEANUTS comic strip turns 75 in 2025. In honor of this significant anniversary, guests will enjoy the debut of the brand-new musical show, Let’s Celebrate, and the limited-time exhibit, “The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz.” And as they do every year, Snoopy and the PEANUTS Gang will stage a park takeover with plenty of excitement and family-friendly fun running weekends from February 8 through March 9. 

Guests will also experience a fun lineup of returning shows and photo ops inspired by the iconic PEANUTS comic strip. Throughout the park, guests will have several chances to play and interact with their favorite PEANUTS characters.

At Calico's Town Hall, guests will enter a new, limited-time exhibit dedicated to “The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz.” This exhibit explores Schulz's personal history and his role as the sole inspiration and artistic talent behind PEANUTS and its unique cast of characters. Follow along with Schulz's story, from his Minnesota roots to his life in California and the development of the characters that make up the unique world of PEANUTS.

Also new this year, Knott's Berry Farm presents, Let’s Celebrate, a heartwarming musical tribute on the Calico Mine Stage in honor of PEANUTS' 75th Anniversary. Snoopy, Charlie Brown and all their friends, as well as a host of singers and dancers, remind us why Peanuts is still beloved after 75 years! The Calico Mine Stage will transform at nightfall as the park hosts Snoopy's Legendary Rooftop Concert where the Peanuts gang and the indie band, The Jelly of the Month Club, perform a high-energy spectacle sure to have everyone dancing.

The PEANUTS-inspired festivities will continue at the Bird Cage Theatre, where the park offers an experience that teaches the young and the young at heart how to draw their favorite PEANUTS characters. The PEANUTS Sketch School will include our resident art teacher, who will provide step-by-step instructions on creating the perfect PEANUTS masterpiece.

A western escapade occurs with Franklin and Linus at Calico Park as they transform into cowboys in the PEANUTS Cowboy Jamboree. The boys want to challenge guests with some of Calico's root-toot-tootiest games. Also in Ghost Town is Pigpen's Pig Pen, where everyone's favorite messy pal will join the rest of the Peanuts gang as he hosts a special meetup at the Livery Stables with some animal friends.
