Pre-teen Co-Ed Success - Outing Ideas at Kaleidoscope Mission Viejo

Tween Night Out... When Where What... Ideas for Success!

I don't know about you but the thought of wanting to plan a tween night out can be scary.

These tweens today are so much more advanced and have so much pressure, I always want to keep the outings age appropriate yet fun. Kaleidoscope was a hit...

With tweens it's also important to me to support coed friendships.

When the kids are friends just hanging out building friendships and strong trust worthy relationships with both guys and girls I feel that it keeps them supported with a go to group.

A few weekends ago we decided to try a coed tween night out.

Starting at Laser Quest the group had an awesome time playing 2 rounds plus some arcade games. The timing of each round is perfect for a quick game play prior to dinner or an additional game while waiting for dinner.

Since we had at least one adult within the mix, in our case two, it was easy to keep a distance yet keep an eye on the tweens.

Laser Quest is perfect for small group or larger groups too and they even have an escape room you can play.

Perfect for November...  Laser Quest at Kaleidoscope has teamed up with Summit Entertainment on a couple of exciting Robin Hood promotions (opening in theaters November 21.)

Family Volunteer Day Ideas & Details On How You Can Participate Too

Family Volunteer Day is on November 17th!

There is so much going on during this time of year. I feel like between sports, school, girl scouts and life, Fall just runs into winter and before we know it the Holidays are upon us.

The holidays always get me thinking of what more we as a family can do to give back and volunteer our time with efforts to grow our hearts.

It is very important to my family to volunteer where we can and teach our kids that giving back doesn't have to come with a large monetary value but volunteering time where needed is just as much of an impact.

This year we are learning more about Family Volunteer Day with the help of an amazing organization called GenerationOn.

Did you know that every year, GenerationOn hosts Family Volunteer Day, a global day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities?!

It's okay I didn't either... but the more I read up on and look into it, I am seeing that it's a great opportunity to teach and do some volunteering.

PC GenerationOn

A Day Of Service On Any Day

I find that locally it is hard for us to find stand alone locations that are asking for volunteers that will also accept children under 13yo to do the volunteering.

We attend a few local give back volunteer locations here in Orange County as often as we can but because it is not always easy to make that happen due to age, we also think of many DIY giveback opportunities.

As a family we love to volunteer our time to the school, to girl scouts, events, beach clean up, back pack drives, animal shelters, food banks and more.

It's the little things like gathering clothes to donate, hanging red ribbons pre red ribbon week, gardening at the school over summer when not many are around, picking up trash at the beach, organizing pet need drives and education on adopting.... there are so many ways you can be involved with volunteering as a family locally.

Details about Family Volunteer Day with GenerationOn

Powered by GenerationOn, the youth division of Points of Light and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company, it's a great way to be inspired by the power of helping others.

It’s an amazing day to bring your family together and make your mark on the world. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!

How To Get Involved

* Pledge to participate or share your family volunteer story and get more info here .

* Get social and spread the word to get others excited too with #FamilyVolunteerDay

* Check out local opportunities by zip code or keyword that will be available for volunteering. I have checked our local zip and see a lot of volunteering that is age appropriate to under 13!! Yay.

* Create your own DIY volunteer project. It could be beach clean up, park clean up, painting a local fence that needs it, helping at a school event, checking in with your local girl scouts to see how they may need help with their projects. So many fin ideas to volunteer together!

Here are some amazing and super family friendly ideas on GenerationOn YouTube.

Don't forget to share your moments with #FamilyVolunteerDay , #Disney and tag @GenerationOn too!

We can not wait to volunteer and make our mark on Novemebr 17th....

Are You Ready for #TeenTitansGOMovie

WATCH THE SUPERHERO MOVIE TO END ALL SUPERHERO MOVIES (HOPEFULLY) WHEN Teen Titans GO! to the Movies ARRIVES ONTO BLU-RAY™ COMBO PACK, DVD AND DIGITAL FROM WARNER BROS. HOME ENTERTAINMENT

Who else has loved Teen Titans since they were younger and now enjoys it with their kids too.... show of hands... me me me!!

Here is the latest and greatest from these little super heroes...

When the Teen Titans go to the big screen, they go big! “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” finds our egocentric, wildly satirical superheroes in their first feature film extravaganza—a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the superhero genre, complete with musical numbers. Get ready to LOL when “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital.

The first-ever big-screen version of DC Entertainment and Cartoon Network’s animated TV show stars Greg Cipes (TV’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) as Beast Boy, Scott Menville (TV’s “Spider-Man”) as Robin, Khary Payton (TV’s “The Walking Dead”) as Cyborg, Tara Strong (the “My Little Pony” franchise) as Raven, and Hynden Walch (TV’s “Adventure Time with Finn & Jake”) as Starfire, reprising their roles from the series. Will Arnett (“The LEGO® Batman Movie”) and Kristen Bell (“Frozen”) also lend their voices as the evil Slade and Hollywood director Jade Wilson.

Peter Rida Michail and Aaron Horvath directed the film from a screenplay by Michael Jelenic and Horvath, which is based on characters from DC. Horvath, Jelenic, Peggy Regan, Michail and Arnett produced the film with Sam Register serving as executive producer. The music is by Jared Faber. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

“Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack for $35.99 and DVD for $28.98.

Our Top 5 Favorite Go To Restaurants in OC!

Restaurant Hot List OnTheGoOC Style...

There are so many great sit down Restaurants and hang out spots in OC but these are currently my top 5 for a variety of reasons.

From how well they accommodate our OnTheGoOC lifestyle when we're out, date night friendly and also how their menu holds up to our ever changing need for different tastes as a family!

Let's jump right in... You may want to visit one of these tonight...

The FIFTH OC Rooftop is rolling in for us at number 1!

We just enjoy it and have in so many different ways over the last few years.

So, since it's family friendly, has live music most nights, is date night perfect, offers views of the Disney fireworks, brings a tasty menu & delish desserts and of course weekly specials that can keep any budget friendly for family time or date... it's our style!

I have brought a whole club soccer team up to The FIFTH, some with allergies but, everyone was able to eat and enjoy the evening.

Dietary can be accommodated and autism friendly is key, there are often large games out to play and the views of the Disneyland Resort are top notch while keeping little occupied until the Fireworks.

Easy DIY Chocolate Dipped Oreo Truffle Pumpkins for Fall #oreoballs

Happy Fall!! Sweets and Treats, No Tricks!

It's super easy to make these do it yourself homemade sweet treats.

How cute are these mini pumpkin oreo truffles!?

Tasty and super craft looking but oh so easy to pull together.

Here are the quick steps and everything you will need to make these cute Oreo truffle chocolate dipped pumpkin treats.

1 pack of large family size oreos
3/4 sour cream or frosting
Orange melting chocolates
Caramel bite, pretzel or candy corn for stem

Let's Get Started...

Blend the oreos to a fine consistency.

Add in the frosting or cream cheese little by little until you have a formidable consistancy to shape that's holds it shape.. not too much frosting!

Shape into pumpkins and let chill in freezer. Add grooves to the shape if desired for pumpkin effect with a small toothpick or dowel.

Melt chocolate while pumpkins are in freezer about 15 minutes... sometimes you may need some coconut oil to thin it out.

Dip pumpkins into chocolate and as they cool, place the stem into place and let harden.

Use an edible color pen or food dye to draw vines.

Done. There you have them.... mini pumpkin oreo truffles ready for teacher gifts, neighbor surprises, pot luck dish or a snack for the family.

I'll take two.... or 5!

So easy and while you are in between steps you can craft, clean up, do things around the house or help with homework.

Try them... let me know what you think and what version you make... frosting or cream cheese!?

Portola Walk in La Habra Now Open - Plus Model Home Tour Video #PortolaWalk

I love where we live!! OC is the place for me…

Orange County has the best of both, well, all worlds, with the beach and mountains only a short drive away. La Habra is centrally located in North Orange County.

Thank you to Portola Walk for Inviting me out to tour the property and model homes - all opinions are my own.

Have you been to La Habra?

With roots of rich CA history, a children's museum, an old town feel with modern updates, and a community involvement, La Habra proves itself to be a wonderful city.

Situated at the center of the greatest La Habra has to offer; Portola Walk by Olson Homes boasts in-town living and a connected lifestyle.

Models Now Open and Tours offered daily…

After taking a 3 hour tour around Portola Walk, I was surprised at how long I was exploring the new homes.

Okay, so let's get into some of my favorite things about Portola Walk in La Habra!

Highlights of the beautiful quaint community and its homes…

* Close to the East San Gabriel Valley and just moments away from Beach Boulevard. 10 min from the freeway and 30 minutes to beaches. Also, only 30 minutes to south county cities such as Mission Viejo.

* Close proximity to work and school, plus local access to neighborhood shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. New developments of specialty dining are popping up within close proximity, raising the value of social and local exploring to support the community. Also, I love museums and did you know La Habra has a children's museum!?

* Best of all—each of Portola Walk’s 50 (45 market rate and 5 affordable) townhomes feature energy efficient designs, created with quality craftsmanship that’s been perfected with over 25 years of homebuilding experience.

* Open and Welcoming Floor Plans. I love the feeling of being able to not only see what my kiddos are doing, but also ask them to help me out in the kitchen or offer them help on homework.

The open floor plan dining and living with an amazing kitchen island makes all the difference to me. I love being connected and spending time with family and friends!

* Bright with Windows Everywhere! Each room is filled with natural sunlight. It's wonderful!

* Optional first floor bedroom or den in Plan 6. During my tour, I was able to really navigate through each of the model homes. Plan 5, the three bedroom floorplan, is just as magnificent and modernly equipped as Plan 6, the four bedroom floorplan.

I have to mention the Plan 6 home has access to an optional bedroom on the first floor through the garage or front door. This is great for an older teen or office but really stood out to me on a personal level. Having a room on the first floor makes it convenient for a grandparent or someone who may not be able to do stairs all the time.

There's an attached powder room as well, so it's also perfect for someone who may need to have access to daily living comfort or special needs capabilities, too.

Bonus...take a peek at my videos from the grand opening of Portola Walk this past weekend here and here

Double bonus...Portola Walk is less than 20 minutes from Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm!!

Portola Walk is also only a short drive from the beach and the mountains so you can hit the sand and the slopes in the winter!

If you are interested in pricing and availability, I can direct you here for more information!

Book a tour today and discover the ideal neighborhood for a connected life. Details here.

Happy house hunting, SoCal, and when you stop by the Portola Walk Welcome Center, let them know Penny from OnTheGoOC says hello!

Moms Meet WOW Summit Details Plus #Giveaway to Attend! #WOWSummit

The Moms Meet WOW Summit is headed our way Orange County!!

WOW Summit will be held on November 2–3, 2018 in Anaheim, California.

I am so excited to attend this powerful two-day event, filled with inspiration and education. Thank you Moms Meet for the invite!

Join me & hundreds of moms, mom bloggers and influencers committed to leading a healthy lifestyle.

WOW Summit is geared to uplifting, inspirational and positive education on healthy living!

Healthy living to me is mind, body, soul. I think the most over looked path to health is balance and the priority to give that to yourself. It's not easy and it takes hard work and dedication but as with anything else... once you put your mind on it and set that goal, it can be achieved.

I love surrounding myself with strong women, women who are leaders, compassionate yet passionate to press on towards their goal and do so without damaging, knocking down or playing mean girl to other women!

I want my family to not only live well, live healthy and promote healthy living but to also understand how to make that happen.

With my son being on the Autism spectrum we have changed a lot in our lives and the way we live, eat and do things for him but it has helped us all.

From colored artificial dye, to hormones and what we are consuming in our daily lives, it is important to me to help my family be educated on healthy living for the better of us all.

Autism plays a big role in our lives and when I changed my son's diet, the rest of the family shortly followed, we saw significant improvement in his social, behavioral and speech!

We have never turned back....

A Magical first time visit to the Disney Studios in Burbank seeing some previews of what's to come on Disney Channel this fall!

Thanks to Disney Channel PR & Kristin for a morning on the Walt Disney Animation Lot we will never forget.

All opinions are my own, well and my daughters, we are grateful to have been invited & loved the previews.

Zoe and I have Disney Channel show marathons. It's hard to keep up with Girl Scouts, Soccer and of course school but we have mom daugjter date nights in home for just this!

We get connected to the shows we love and we sure do love the Disney Channel Fall Line up... we have our favorites so this was such a special treat. We may have cried a little at some Andi Mack cliffhangers, laughed a lot and felt the pixie dust today with my girl!

We have got the full scoop and some hints to some surprises this week...

Andi Mack - New Andi Mack was our highlight. Watch tonight as the new season picks up where last season left off but it will definitely leave you wanting more next week. Can't wait to watch it again tonight after soccer. Monday's at 8pm. I don't even want to say too much besides you have to see what happens next...

Ravens Home - Of course my girl (I swear right lol) Raven-Symone cracks me up... now she and her costars hab e my daughter laughing too. When I told my kiddo about the history of watching Raven when I was young and now having kids I can still relate to her.. we made the connection of Disney Channel greats together. Go girl go! Have you seen Ravens Home? It's a really funny show with a lot of reality day to day life in it. Love it. New surprises to watch out for Thursday Oct. 11th

Generations of  love for the Mouse House...

In our home we grew up on Disney Channel and now my kids love it too. My 11yo had the most pixie dust filled time on the Disney Lot meeting some of her favorite Disney stars.

My Zoe has always had dreams to become a Disney Kid and one day make the Mickey ears on T.V. so it was a mamas dream to see her mingle with the sweet kids. Since she wants to interview kids too this was a great opportunity to ask a few questions.

Her favorite question & answer... to Sofia from Andi Mack. Question.. When did you start dancing and sports? Answer.. when she was nine. A simple connection to bring kids together... chatting!! Loved that moment for Zoe so much.
