Moms Meet WOW Summit Details Plus #Giveaway to Attend! #WOWSummit

The Moms Meet WOW Summit is headed our way Orange County!!

WOW Summit will be held on November 2–3, 2018 in Anaheim, California.

I am so excited to attend this powerful two-day event, filled with inspiration and education. Thank you Moms Meet for the invite!

Join me & hundreds of moms, mom bloggers and influencers committed to leading a healthy lifestyle.

WOW Summit is geared to uplifting, inspirational and positive education on healthy living!

Healthy living to me is mind, body, soul. I think the most over looked path to health is balance and the priority to give that to yourself. It's not easy and it takes hard work and dedication but as with anything else... once you put your mind on it and set that goal, it can be achieved.

I love surrounding myself with strong women, women who are leaders, compassionate yet passionate to press on towards their goal and do so without damaging, knocking down or playing mean girl to other women!

I want my family to not only live well, live healthy and promote healthy living but to also understand how to make that happen.

With my son being on the Autism spectrum we have changed a lot in our lives and the way we live, eat and do things for him but it has helped us all.

From colored artificial dye, to hormones and what we are consuming in our daily lives, it is important to me to help my family be educated on healthy living for the better of us all.

Autism plays a big role in our lives and when I changed my son's diet, the rest of the family shortly followed, we saw significant improvement in his social, behavioral and speech!

We have never turned back....

Cigna Great Race Recap Supporting Disneyland Half - Run Disney!

Cigna Run Together Meet Up!

Huge shout out and thank you to Cigna for having me out this year for the Cigna Social Great Race. I love that Cigna supports the Disneyland Half Marathon and more.

It is important to my family to stay fit, eat healthy and live well. I am so happy that I was able to participate in the Cigna Healthy Coaches fun time inside Disney's California Adventure!

There were so many inspirational stories from everyday people that made one step in the right direction to make a change towards a healthier lifestyle and some that are a recovery from an injury.

What ever the case may be Cigna has been there to help see their successful goals hit all the way through.

One inspirational story that stuck out to me was that of Mindy Huggins-Collins, a Cigna Disability Customer, who participates in the Disneyland 5K!

Here is her inspirational teamwork towards recovery story...

"For 20 years, Mindy Huggins-Collins, 60 years old and resident of Lancaster, Ohio, found her first love in exercise and healthy living. Inspired by her mom, she maintained a weight-training regime that kick-started everyday that made her feel good about herself and provided an athletic high to tackle the day.

For someone who works at a home improvement store, Mindy’s strength and positive attitude were important assets. Then, in January 2015, a car accident sent her health down an unexpected path – at least, for a little while. At first, she didn’t realize she had an injury. Mindy felt the pain in her back growing worse. She went to a chiropractor, but found no relief. Ultimately, she met with a surgeon, who found a herniation that would require surgery. Not wanting to sideline her job, she felt she could manage the pain and keep going. Of course, a physical job like hers only brought more pain. By January 2017, she had enough. “ I couldn’t exercise like I once did,” Mindy recalled. “The physical demands of my job became more difficult and it felt like I had to fight with myself just to get up every morning. I wasn’t ‘Mindy’ anymore and that had to change.” After surgery, Mindy’s body needed three months of physical therapy. Near the end of that period in May 2017, Jamie Wiltrout, her Cigna vocational coach, called to offer assistance with getting Mindy what she needed to help her return to work. Every customer’s needs are different and Mindy needed a training program to rebuild her strength as well as help managing the process to return to work with her employer.

One of the training programs Jamie offered was the Cigna customer referral program with Achilles International, anon-profit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities participate in athletic events. Cigna partners with organizations like Achilles International to help our customers achieve their health and return to work goals by providing: access to additional rehabilitation resources including ergonomic office equipment, software, education and accommodations to help customers stay safe and be productive at work, encouragement and support, resume review and job placement assistance. The Cigna Customer Referral Program with Achilles International demonstrates Cigna’s promise to partner with customers “Together, All the Way” along their unique health journey. When injury or illness occurs, Cigna helps them get back on track to achieve their goals. “When Jamie called and shared with me all of resources available to me to help with my return, I just could hardly believe it,” said Mindy. “I wanted to be who I was and back to the life I was used to living. I want to be whole again.” With Jamie’s encouragement and the assistance of a personal trainer to build Mindy’s strength and stamina, Mindy started part time in June 2017 and now on the road to full time in the fall. As a special recognition of Mindy’s hard work recovering, Cigna offered her the opportunity to participate in the Disneyland 5K on Friday, September 1.“I’m excited to show what I can do,” said Mindy. “If I can inspire someone else by finishing this race, I would tell them they can do anything.” “For Cigna customers, participating in a race represents a healthy milestone on the road to recovery, but also independence,” said Jamie. Cigna believes that, as you gain physical strength, you'll also build confidence, which can positively affect all areas of your life, including your work performance.” “Cigna helps people get their life back. I’m back to my workout routine at 4am and my coworkers can hardly keep up with me. I’m 60 years old going on 40 again!,” said Mindy. “A couple more months and I’ll be all the way back.100% Mindy.”

WOW! I am just amazed at the teamwork that Cigna and Mindy worked so hard on for her recovery. Just look at her now...

Knowing that our social support goes a long way for others to catch a glimpse into the attention and care that Cigna provides is so meaningful to me.

It was such a Magical opportunity to support Cigna and all the Disneyland Half Runners with our Great Race Scavenger Hunt.

Here are some of the fun challenges and teamwork games that had to be played and accomplished to get our teamwork working at it's best.

The Cigna Great Race was so much entertaining and I am sure that we had a few people laughing with chEARful fun while we ran around DCA!

There were challenges that led to gather teams together to play games to complete tasks too!

Solving riddles and puzzles to get to a question to get to an answer... seriously such a great time with new friends!

Hey there, Stop for some Lunges with Buzz.. why not!

Everyone did a great job and a lot of magical efforts were given by each team... but in the end.. it was Team Daisy for the WIN!

Who knew that educating ourselves on marathon's, fitness, wellness, health, running and more would turn into an amazingly great day... I DID... It's Cigna and Disney!!

Be Part of Healthy Choices Daily Join The #AquaBallPledge

Take the AquaBall Pledge

Motivation and Encouragement to help families and kids make healthier choices.

Make ONE healthy choice per day to reduce sugar in your daily diet!

Are you excited? We are! What does it all mean? What do you do to be part of the pledge fun?

The AquaBall Pledge asks kids to make ONE HEALTHY CHOICE a day to reduce sugar. One of the easiest ways to do that is by eliminating a high-sugar beverage, such as a juice box/pouch or a soda, and replacing it with an AquaBall…which has ZERO SUGAR!

How does the AquaBall Pledge work?
Download & Print the Certificate here or on the pledge page directly.

* Your child will sign it (Symbols for those really little ones are OK!)

* Scan or Take a Photo with your Phone of the signed Certificate and email it to Pledge@AquaBallDrink.com

What is next?

Directly From The AquaBall Headquarters to Motivate us all to Take That Pledge here are the full details..

The AquaBall Pledge is the launch of a national campaign encouraging children to make one healthy choice a day by reducing sugar in their diets.

When a child ‘Takes the AquaBall Pledge’ they are joining inthe battle against childhood obesity and diabetes and choosing healthier options.

The children are sent a wristband, a coupon for a free AquaBall and merchandise. As they complete each month a new wristband is sent out to them, with a new color.

Once they complete three months they receive a gold wristband and will be entered into a drawing for an AquaBall Party with their friends.

To find out more information and to take the AquaBall Pledge go to www.aquaballdrink.com/pledge.

Aubrye Foote, Chief Mom of True Drinks, stated, “Kids drink more than they eat and most of the kid’s beverages on the market today are packed full of sugar.
Even if there isn’t any ‘added sugar’ in the beverage, one drink can exceed the daily amount of sugar a child should have. Our idea was to create the AquaBall Pledge to encourage families to have fun while making a healthy choice at the same time.
If they replace their favorite juice pouch or soda with an AquaBall, they immediately eliminate at least 9 grams of sugar. Every little change is a step in the right direction. I’m hoping that every parent joins me in the AquaBall Pledge and encourages their friends to join as well.”

We are joining in and we are loving it!

Kick off SUMMER with a Healthy Pledge to keep hydrated but with out the sugar!

Tag your social posts with #AquaBallPledge to show your healthy side too!

Proud to be an #AquaBallMoms and have #AquaBalKids

Weekly Sports Prep Tips to Keeping Healthy

Year-Round Play Safe Tips for Weekly Practice and Games!

Youth Soccer is almost year-round but how do you keep the kids full of energy and healthy!?
Fun Play is Safe Play!
Soccer has been my passion for years, I started playing since I was 10, now my own kids play and I couldn't be happier watching them.

I know how important it is to keep hydrated, eat well, store energy and keep a healthy lifestyle when you play a sport year-round... but there is more to it.

Here are a few tips that I have followed for years and still think are worth keeping up with!

* Always stretch and shake it before getting into your practice and or game. Don't want to pull or pinch anything.
* Games and Practice - Eat well enough in advance so that there are no tummy issues. We eat at least 2 hours prior.

* Snacks that are best - Complex Carbs such as cereal, pasta or toast. Just remember to eat well in advance of game or practice.

* Keep Hydrated but don't over do it, you may get cramps, little sips. Drink a few 12oz glasses of water 2 hours prior to game or practice. A little bit more before the game and every 15 mins or so during game and last but not least always drink water after!

* All Weather - Sports are played in all weather conditions. Dress appropriately for the weather you are playing in. Working hard at practice may lead to sweating, a jacket to toss on after is ideal to keep that heat in and chill out.

* Multi Practice week - We try to get our homework done on the less hectic days, that does NOT always work out but it does help when we can achieve that. I have used sports as a bribe to get homework done or kept the kids from the activity over homework... but I am taking a stand against that. I will not do that again. Sports are my kids outlets of energy bursts and mind clearance. They love their sports and activities and I feel like those are the breaks in the daily they need. I will now start taking away TV time or have a bed time be earlier. Do you have a suggestion on this? Tell me please!

* Be Positive - Always tell your teammates they did a great job and your coach thank you for his/her time! Most of these sports are volunteer or little pay so the commitment the adults give to the kids should get thanks too! Not a bad idea to thank your parents too for the support and getting you to practice on time!

Do you have any tips to add to year-round sports play!? Put them in the comments below!
