May 8: Kindness Club: Social Skills Program
Class Days: Friday
Time: 12:30 – 1:15p.m.
Specifically for: Children 4 – 6 years of age; Grown-up supervision required.
This 6-week class series helps children explore self-awareness, kindness, compassion, and self-control. Each class will include either an art activity or a mindfulness exercise designed to encourage positive behavior. Children will also practice identifying feelings, effective communication and problem solving, as they recognize the benefits that kindness can bring to their lives. Registration is required.
Cost: $60 per child for the 6-week class series

Friday, May 8: Free Dental Screening
Time: 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m.
Specifically for: Young Toddlers (12-24 months) to School Ages (5-8 years)
Teaching children about and encouraging healthy oral habits can be a difficult task. Making yourself more knowledgeable will help you work with your little one on a daily basis. Dr. Harvey Lee from Smile Wide Dental is here to help. He will be providing dental education and screenings regarding brushing, flossing, and healthy eating.

Saturday, May 9: Celebrate Mother’s Day
Time: Throughout the day
Specifically for: Children of all ages; Grown-ups
What could be a better way to celebrate Mom this year than by taking her to Pretend City’s Mother’s Day party! Various other activities will be set-up throughout the museum for children to spoil their mommies in addition to these fun activities:
· Smart Art: Pretty Party Hats will help add a bit of fancy fun to our Mother’s Day celebration activities. Stop by the art studio first to make your very own.
· Café Creations: Tea Time will be a special opportunity for moms and their little ones to bond over a spot of tea. Children will have the opportunity to share what makes their mommy so special.
· Family Fitness Fun: Mommy & Me Move will get bodies moving with fun fitness routines and exercises that mommies and their child will do together.
· Sensational Story Time: One of most important gifts a mother can give to their child is a love of reading! Stop by the library today to read special Mother’s Day books with your child.

Monday, April 13: Baby Steps through Pretend City
Time: 2:00-3:30p.m.
Specifically for: Infant (0-18 months), grownups. For the comfort of our infant guests, no older siblings please.
Do you have questions about feeding, napping, crawling, or just want to enjoy an event where you and your baby can come and play? If so, Baby Steps through Pretend City is the event for you! This monthly event is a great opportunity to ask questions, meet other parents, and engage your baby in developmentally appropriate activities and exhibits. Pretend City was designed with your infant in mind, but with so many excited, older children playing in the museum, it may be hard for your little one to get around. This monthly event allows you to take advantage of an exclusive, infant only times by engaging in age-appropriate facilitated activities which will teach you about your baby’s developmental milestones.
Cost: Free for infants 0-18 months; Adults are $10. (Free for Pretend City Members)
Wednesday, May 13: Celebrate Frog Jumping Day!
Time: Throughout the day
Specifically for: Children of all ages; Grown-ups
Frog Jumping Day is a great day to jump like a frog. Or, maybe the day is about jumping over a frog? Either way, today is a fun day! Pretend City will teach your child all about frogs through a variety of fun activities including:
· Smart Art: Frog Face - There are over 4800 different species of frogs that can be found all over the world. Which frog will your child decide to make today in this frog-inspired art project?
· Sensational Story Time: Jump, Frog, Jump! This infectious cumulative tale will soon have the young frogs you know jumping and chanting with joy.
· Simple Science: Froggy, Froggy will educate children about frogs with a fun music video and corresponding activity about the life cycle of a frog!

Thursday, May 14: Celebrate National Chicken Dance Day!
Time: Throughout the day
Specifically for: Children of all ages; Grown-ups
Today is National Dance Like a Chicken Day! Although we may not like to admit it, we all have rocked the Chicken Dance at least once or twice in our lives. Today is your time to do it again! Join us every hour to do the chicken dance! Other fun activities will include:
· Smart Art: Fuzzy Friends baby chick art looks just like the cute feathered chicks in our very own Farm. Observe them with your child before visiting the Art Studio to create their very own chick art.
· Sensational Story Time: Hopefully the Interrupting Chicken won’t stop by for this humorous story time. This fun take is sure to amuse (and hold the attention of) spirited little chicks.
· Simple Science: Life Cycle of a Chicken will teach your children all about the various stages of a chicken’s life from egg to chicken.

Monday, May 18: Celebrate International Museum Day!
Time: Throughout the day
Specifically for: Children of all ages; Grown-ups
Today Pretend City Children’s Museum joins the worldwide community of museums to celebrate International Museum Day. This year’s theme for the event is museums for a sustainable society. Today we will do our part to raise public awareness about the need for a society that is less wasteful, more cooperative and that uses resources in a way that respects living systems.
· Smart Art: Trash to Treasure – ever heard the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”? Well today’s art activities are based off of that phrase. See what treasure your child can create with “trash” items.
· Sensational Story Time: Timber! This book will teach budding environmentalist how to be environmentally conscious and about sustainable forestry.
· Simple Science: It all starts with One Seed! Learn what seeds come from what, explore different seeds, and learn about the life cycles of a few plants. Children will then get to plant their very own seed that will sprout into their very own edible treat.
