A HIT with the family - Farm Rich Meatball Subs

Easy Peasy - Yes, a dinner that is semi homemade but tastes completely fresh and everyone loves it!

We have never tried Farm Rich foods before. When I was given the opportunity to make, try and serve a meal made from one of their products, I jumped at the chance.

I always cook at home but sometimes I just don't feel like sweating it at all.

I was given two coupons to select an appetizer type and a full meal from their smoke house line.

My family is SUPER picky about meatballs... I am Greek and my parents made everything from scratch especially meatballs. So I was really interested in tasting the ones that Farm Rich offers.

I chose the Original Style Meatballs and decided to go with a simple dinner - Meatball Subs with Cheese on top.

I started out by simmering as the directions say and slowly added the pasta sauce to it. I added a bit of pepper and a pink of garlic salt. Cause that's how Greeks are. I let it all simmer together and covered it all for about 10  minutes. I basically would only make the sauce from scratch if I had more time but jar sauce is just perfect for this fast tasty meal.

Ready to serve... So easy and so perfect for the crazy day I had. I even packed some up for my hubs to take to work! Loved it all around and will be doing this meal again...soon.

Pretend Cafe with Pizza 900

Pretend City has a new Exhibit and we love it!

Pretend City is always changing it up to keep the kids learning and pretend playing with new fresh tools to keep their imaginations running wild.
I guess it's fair to say that my kids run wild with excitement there too.

On Friday we attended the grand opening of Pretend Cafe, a new exhibit at +Pretend City Children's Museum , that is a Pizzeria. Pretend Cafe features Pizza 900, a local premier Pizzeria.

Ari, Chef, Creator, Owner, Pizza Master!

 At the Ribbon cutting the Owner and Chef, Ari, said something so perfect. He said "It's important to give back to our community and education is the way to go." I agree Ari!

Inside the Cafe the Pizzeria offers the ability to place an order, take an order, make a pizza, charge for, pay for and then sit down and eat the Pizza you created. It is really creative and a lot of fun. It was great to see my kids take my order, make my pizza and serve it to me. LOVE IT! 

 

Ari's Pizzeria, Pizza 900, is located in Laguna Hills, CA. Ari has over 40 of the most usual to decadent toppings. At the event I tried the BBQ Chicken and could have taken the whole Pie home with me, it was that good. He says he is proud to have the freshest and most natural high end health ingredients and I am totally fine with that...after all it is pizza and it is amazingly great.

I love that they WOOD FIRE your pizza. We will see you soon Ari, thank you Pretend City for the introduction to a new family favorite!

Can I get some Pink in my Hair Mom?

"Can I get some pink in my hair, please mom?"

Yup, I heard those words...actually I've heard those words for over a year but for some reason I like to tell my kid that she can do most things she's asked for when she turns 8.

Help me, she turns 8 this year, and I've been saying this to her for 2 years now.

American Girl Doll - Not until you are at least 8 (I can't afford one anyways)
Get a new pet - Not until you are at least 8 (We already have enough in this house)
Put some pink in my hair - Not until you are at least 8 (She will be 8 in a few weeks)

So with my options limited and with her golden birthday coming up, I opted to agree to the PINK STREAK.

After having my own hair done with Morgan, at The House Salon, I decided to talk to her about a semi or not really permanent option. She was really cool about it and told me that Loreal has a product that will stain like chalk but eventually come out with washes unless re applied.

Here is the stuff! Its a liquid that is brushed on like liquid chalk and settles. As it settles you take the blow dryer to it and help it set. Apply three coats - more for brighter and less for softer color and you are done.

We did one streak for now and she is loving it!

Morgan was super cool about it too, she asked Zoe where she wanted to have the streak... kind of hidden or on top so its bold. Well, you know how that went, and top streak it is.

Thanks for the summer fun Morgan.

Zoe don't ask me for another thing for a while... oh wait it's her birthday in a few weeks. YIKES!

Happy 60th Disney - Date Night Tips from my Husband

For the first time in forever.... (see what I did there) my husband and I had a date night. It was AMAZING! Thanks to my sister Anne, we had a really great time at Disneyland.

I wanted to share a few of his tips... I have tips for Disney too, but It's very interesting to hear what he has to say since he doesn't go as often!

Tips From the Husband's perspective on a Disney Date Night - (4 hours including drive to and back for kids)
* Go on a Sunday and after 6pm. Seems like people are exhausted by then and some leave early.
* Ride the monorail in - that's one ride and nice lounge on the way in.
* Don't eat much all day and eat in the parks. We like to eat at Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. The menu for dinner is all you can eat BBQ and it is amazing.

BTR BBQ is our Favorite

* Ride a few rides...Suggest one before dinner and one or two after. Pirates seems to go fast and Big Thunder Mountain RR flows nicely.
* If you do not have viewing tickets to a show you can do what we did and catch the fireworks from the top of the Mickey and Friends parking structure - we were able to see all of them from front and back of Castle in the sky. The new show Disneyland Forever is beautiful.

Love is in the Air

* On your walk out catch the evening Parade - the New Paint The Night Parade

Paint the Night Parade - Ariel and King Triton

* Leave either right after fireworks from the parking structure or wait it out a bit cause there will be and always is a little rush at that time.
* Bring your kids a sticker, a TsumTsum or some thing... because as much as you try to hide where your date night will be - they always find out. It's like they smell the Pirate's ride on our clothes!

Side note - some of you know that we do a pay it forward type of fun when we hit the parks. Since we go early and usually do not get to stay late, we always get fastpasses. They are usually for a popular ride in each park (Radiator Springs Racers / Indiana Jones) and a show (World Of Color / Fantasmic) and on our way out we stop people and just offer them. We have only had one family tell us no thanks. So on date night, on our drive, I told my hubs..."babe, it would be awesome if someone payed it forward to us, like we do, never needed it until now" , he agreed. We walked into Disneyland and went straight for his favorite ride (I like it when he gets to do what he likes - he does a lot for us) INDIANA! We walked up and I promise you, a woman and her daughter said.. "Hey.,. do you want our fastpasses, we are not staying and don't need them" ... wait what?! YES PLEASE and THANK YOU to both of them. Okay, I am done.. but what I really want to say is.. Be KIND, Pay It Forward and You DO NOT need a lot of anything to do a little good! I am blessed.
